The Protein Shop's Dextrose is derived from natural corn starch. During this process the starch of the corn is exposed to acid and heat to partially digest and break down the starch into smaller polymers (monosaccharide). Dextrose is considered the natural occurring form of glucose, but dextrose is chemically an isomer of glucose.
Dextrose has a sweet taste similar to table sugar (sucrose), but does not posess the sweetner strength of sucrose. Dextrose is about 20% less sweet. Dextrose easily mixes and dissolves in any liquid and needs no blending or vigorous shaking to be palatable.
